Going Green For Education

Imani Seven Forks Half Marathon is more than a race – it’s a movement that brings together sport, education, environmental conservation, and community transformation.
Held annually along the breathtaking Seven Forks Hydro Circuit in Embu County, Kenya, the event welcomes elite athletes, amateur runners, corporate teams, schools, families, and change-makers from across the world to run for a greater purpose.
Founded in 2023, the marathon has quickly grown into one of Kenya’s most inspiring charity sporting events, combining world-class competition with meaningful social impact. Every registration, sponsorship, and partnership helps create brighter futures for orphaned and vulnerable children while promoting healthier communities and environmental sustainability

Our Imani Story

Imani Christian School is a fully sponsored education and boarding institution established to provide quality education, care and holistic development for orphaned and vulnerable children. The Imani story began in the early 2000s when 15 grandparents in Embu County found themselves caring for their grandchildren after their children succumbed to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In response to the challenges facing these families, Imani Christian School was established in 2016 to provide a nurturing environment and full educational support to children in need.

Over the past decade, 225 boys and 275 girls have been nurtured and educated, while more than 2,000 children have benefited from the broader Imani support programme. The school currently serves 200 learners in Grades 4 to 9, with the inaugural secondary school cohort having completed its education in 2025 and progressing to various tertiary institutions. As Imani celebrates 10 years of transforming young lives, the school is entering an important phase of expansion. The transition to the Competency-Based Education system has created additional infrastructure needs, including classrooms, science and ICT laboratories, dormitories, beds and mattresses, alongside the ongoing need to sustainably provide tuition, meals, accommodation and other essential support.
As such, the Imani Seven Forks Half Marathon was established as a charitable sporting initiative through which we mobilize resources and bring together individuals, businesses, institutions, schools and communities around a common cause. Now in its fourth edition, the marathon seeks to:
  • Support the education and holistic development of the orphaned and vulnerable children;
  • Mobilize resources towards the development and expansion of Imani Christian School;
  • Promote youth empowerment, sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles;
  • Advance environmental conservation and stewardship;
  • Promote community engagement and social cohesion; and
  • Create a platform through which businesses and other stakeholders can contribute meaningfully to community development.
The marathon has therefore grown beyond a sporting event into a community impact platform, connecting sport, education, business and social responsibility.
